It's advisable to swim in Peru all-year-round as the water is cool to cold. The coast, however, is at its best every January when the weather gets warmer. For those climbing the Andes, the best time is between June and September as this is the dry period, although the nights can be very cold. Canoeing and rafting in the mountain rivers is also good between December and March, the rainy season.
It's hot all-year-round in the jungles, although the hiker should prepare for occasional heavy rains at any time of the year. December to January is the best time to see wildlife via canoe or boat as the water levels on the rivers rise due to the rainy period.
