Beware of “bamba” or fake alpaca wool products that are actually synthetic or just plain wool. If you are offered $8 for a jumper, for example, means that it is made of cheap materials such as acrylic and not real alpaca.
To tell the real from the fake ones, remember that alpaca wool is slightly greasy, low in luster, slow in getting back in shape when stretched, very fine, soft, and expensive.
