Kadurugoda Vihayara

Also known as the Kantorodai, Kadurugoda Vihayara is an ancient Buddhist temple found in Jaffna. During the turn of the 20th century, several stupas and other structures remain on the archaeological site. However, as a result of neglect, they slowly disappeared back to the earth.

Today, only about 20 stupas remain on the site of the Kadurugoda Vihayara. These ancient buildings were made from blocks of large stones and coated with plaster. The largest dome structure found measures 23 feet in diameter while the smallest stupa is about six feet in diameter.
