Sri Lanka Good to know |
Sri Lanka is the place to be when it comes to nightlife in south Asia. However, there are also factors that can make a trip a terrible experience. Thus in going to the country, try to be cautious of a few things.
First, the country is almost leach-infested. Other than the malaria-dengue-carrying mosquitoes, leeches are abundant. Travelers are forewarned, especially those who trek on off-beaten paths. These bloodsuckers can be a really big hassle in one's trip.
Second, try to look up and dock. Tourists are asked to be wary of coconuts and giant jackfruits falling off the trees. These are really heavy fruits. It cannot only cause a head injury. There are times when a hit is fatal. In the country, many people have reportedly died from these big fruits.
A third warning for upcoming Sri Lankan visitors is the buses. If at all possible, take the off beaten tracks or the train rather than the main roads. The buses are really fast and can be deadly. There are only a few sidewalks leaving a pedestrian exposed.
There are other things that may turn a good trip around. However, with enough and proper preparation, no obstacle cannot be crossed. Thus, take heed and be careful on the trip.
