The Glossary
There is a pristine, underdeveloped beach in Sorsogon the local tourism office has just recently “discovered” and named “Pink Beach” or “Flamingo Beach” because it has pinkish sand made of pulverized pink and red corals that are estimated to be millions of years in age. There is actually already a “Flamingo Beach” somewhere in the United States, and like the one in Sorsogon, this beach also has baby pink sands.
Little crabs and other crustaceans roam around the beach. There are also a number of starfish on the shore. The beach is actually on a small island with a few local villagers relying on poultry raising and fishing for livelihood. You can spend a night on the beach by camping or arranging for some space on a villager’s nipa hut. Be sure to bring your own food as there are no restaurants or stores on the beach. Once developed, the beach will be Sorsogon’s answer to Boracay, the locals say.
