There are two things that tourists should be warned about when visiting Oman. First are the taxis and drivers. Driving in Oman is a difficult feat. Everyone drives faster than anyone else and cabs are not excused from this. To be safe, travelers must be assertive and should ask the driver for a seatbelt. Though commonly they will lie and tell they don't have one. Force them to show the belt before moving.
The second thing is about the travels off-course. Wadi bashing or adventure in the dessert, though enjoyable can cause trouble. Tourists should note that the desert is a very unsafe place especially when its off-course. For these reasons, travelers are advised to carry around bodyguards in the form of travel guides to stay safe
