Omani culture is largely entrenched with the philosophies of the Islamic religion. The country even derived its own brand of Muslim called Ibadhism, named after its founder Abdullah ibn Ibadh. Most of the citizens adhere to this denomination while other remained under Sunni and Shia Islam. Despite this difference in religious preference, other aspects of Omani culture are largely similar. The fashion in the country is uniform. For men, dishdasha (collarless gown with long sleeves) is worn, and for women sirwal (dress worn over trousers) and lihaf (headdress) are required to be worn. The arts and architecture are also similar to other Arab countries. The festivals are also as festive as other desert nations, the most popular being the Muscat Festival that showcases the raw talents and skills of the Omani people.
