A Laotian tourist visa is like a license to the thrill the country offers. Any tourist has to have it to completely enjoy a Laos adventure. Through booking a tour with an authorized travel agency, the initial requirement in getting a visa is obtained. The pre-approval letter for the visa will be sent together with the other amenities of the agency. Upon reception of the letter, the aspiring tourist may now proceed with the application at the nearest Laotian Consulate or Embassy.
Aside from the pre-approval letter, visa applicants must submit a passport with a minimum validity of six months and at least one blank visa page, two fully-filled out visa application forms, three recent 2 x 2 colored pictures, and a proof of departure like a copy of the itinerary or an airline ticket. Upon submission, the papers will undergo processing. After a maximum of eight working days, the visa will finally be issued.
For consular payments, a Laotian tourist visa usually costs $55. This is for both rush and regular service.
