Laos Good to know |
Like in most Southeast Asian countries, Laos' main danger during a trip is losing so much money to scammers and fraud sellers. Tourists must note that Laos' tourism has just been opened; meaning swarms of visitors come almost every month. This also means that locals are getting familiar with the travelers and are finding ways to earn from them, including tricking them into buying stuff or so called souvenirs. Being cautious thus becomes necessary. Value the money at hand and although the prices seem low, counting it together will surely make a huge sum.
Another problem that may be encountered in Laos is also relative to money. Some Automated Telling Machines ATMs exist but does not really work. Rather than being trapped in the country without any penny in one's pocket, better bring some cash. Baht in 50s and 100s is the best to have on hand.
