Laos Good to know |
The Lao cuisine is the combination of the ethnic Lao people's and Northeast Thais' cooking. The foods are usually spicy in taste. The country's staple food is rice, thus most recipes has it tagging along. The most famous Lao food is called laap. This is marinated raw meat or fish with varying mixtures of herbs and spices. This dish as most Lao recipes has a slightly spicy kick. In some hawkers areas in key cities cheap foods like Lao salad and pickles are offered for those craving for the informal chows. They can also grab a bite off grilled fish and meat with specially-prepared Lao sauce and gravies or indulge in Pakxong coffee, the famous traditional coffee of the Lao people.
