The culture of Laos is a unique blend of beliefs, customs, and traditions of its neighboring countries as well as its own religion. Many aspects of the Laotian way of life like the language, art, literature and performing arts are derived from these countries. The important celebrations are also based on these influences. The important festival, Boun Pha Vet, or the two-day Buddhist Festival, celebrated annually by the entire community is also influenced by the Theravada Buddhism, which is the major denomination in the country.
