Hot and dry are the two words to sum up the weather of Egypt. It has two main seasons, mild winter and hot summer. Mild winter typically begins in November and ends in April. The hot summer starts from May and lasts up to October. The only distinguishing characteristics of these two seasons are the temperature and the prevailing winds. Daytime temperature is higher during summer as compared to that of winter. On the other hand, winter even is colder than summer eve.
Between the months of March and April a dry and hot wind blows from the Western Desert. This is called khamsin. This may be avoided by staying indoors.
