Probably due to ancient riches this country has in store, tourism regulations are quite strict. It is mandatory to have visa before entry. Unlike China, however, there is a way to obtain Egyptian visa upon arrival. Through almost all ports of entry, there are sectors which take care of visa processing as well as issuance. All a tourist will need is a passport with a validity of at least six months and at least one unused visa page, one fully-filled out application form, a recent passport-type photograph, and a copy of an airline ticket. The same documents will be required if the application will be done prior to the trip.
The documents must be submitted to the nearest Egyptian Consulate or Embassy, together with a visa fee. The processing time usually takes a few days. The issued visa will be valid 30-180 days from the day of issuance.
