Tibetan culture is greatly influenced by its geography and climate. The height of its location, the different seasons in the country and the cold temperature can only harbor a pastoral means to survive, while connection with its neighboring countries also contributed in the shaping the arts as well as religion. Buddhism, the country's main religion was adopted from China. Thangka of the Tibetan visual art has a Nepalese and Kashmir origin. Important festivals like the Great Prayer Festival and Butter Lantern Festival were also derived from Chinese Buddhist religion.
