Qatar History

Qatar's history dates back to 50 thousand years ago. The earliest settlers were Stone Age Arab men who encamped on its lands, tilled its soil and created stone-age technology. These people inhabited the land until the time of the Bani Utbah Tribe. This tribe is composed of migrants from Kuwait, the first to establish the different cities in the peninsula. Qatar flourished under the rule of the tribe's head. However, it did not escape the hands of colonizers. The Portuguese, Ottomans, and even Bahrainis came and ransacked the country. Nevertheless the country remained strong. It established its own government and independently struggled for peace and prosperity. Today's Qatar is the outcome of the industry and patience of its past people.
