More about Qatar costs
Qatar's official currency is the Qatari riyal (QAR), with an exchange rate of 3.65 QR to 1 US dollar. Banks and moneychangers have very little difference in their exchange rates. Banks are usually open in the mornings but closed on Fridays and Saturdays. The main bank branches are located in Doha's Hamad Street. ATMs are easy to find in the streets, banks, and shopping malls of Qatar's main cities and towns. Most restaurants and hotels accept traveler's checks and international credit cards.
Haggling is a common practice in souqs (markets) found in downtown Doha. You can bargain for a much cheaper price compared to what is offered in malls. However, if you prefer the higher quality of mall products, Qatar's commercial stores offer very reasonable bargains. The Blue Salon reduces Armani, Cerutti, and Valentino suits for half price twice a year. The most popular malls are the Hyatt Plaza, The Mall, Villagio, and Landmark.
