As its culture, Myanmar's cuisine is also a mixture of the cooking of its early settlers and colonizers. Some delicacies are more on the spicy Indian taste, while others have vegetables for chief ingredient as that of the Chinese. Despite this adaptation, preparation of Myanmar's cuisine is unique, especially for each region. Although Bazun thohk is a popular as a pickled prawn dish to near-water regions of the country, to some areas in which prawn is difficult to acquire another version is derived. Also, condiments with ingredient that are hard to find in a certain part of the country have a different version in another locale. This gives each locality its own specialty and identity. Even streetfoods vary from region to region.
