Bali, Sulawesi, and Jakarta are only few of the cities that make Indonesia a frequently visited country in Asia. However, entering Indonesia is not as easy as going next door. Although there had been a time when the country was open for visitors, the abuse of some tourists turning to illegal aliens prompted the government to impose stricter rules in entering the country. Only citizens of the countries, Brunei, Chile, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Macao, Morocco, Peru, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Turkey have a visa-free entry privilege. Nationals of countries such as, South Africa, Argentina, Denmark, The United Arab Emirates, Italy, Canada, Poland, South Korea, New Zealand, France, United States, Britain, Australia, Japan, France, Hungary, Norway, Swiss, Taiwan, Brazil, Finland and other countries will be given the Visa on Arrival consideration. Beyond these countries, visa will be required.
In applying for a visa to Indonesia, the process generally requests for a valid passport with free visa pages, proof of sufficient funds, onward and return airline tickets, and a visa fee of either $10 or $25. This can be presented to an embassy in the visitor's home-country or upon arrival in any of the 26 International Gateways of the country. Application upon arrival usually takes just a few hours, while applications in a visitor's home country may take two to four working days. After being issued a visa, a traveler may stay and frolic in Indonesia's sea of tourist sites for 30 days.
