From Wamena, you and your guide can hire a car and drive south of Baliem Valley going to Sogokmo. From Sogkomo, you can start a day trek that will last for four to five hours, passing through the sweet potato gardens of the Stone Age Dani tribe, then crossing over a hanging bridge overlooking the Baliem River. Along the trail, you will encounter Stone Age tribes doing their daily activities like hunting and herding sheep amid a beautiful scenery. Remember to bring your own lunch so you can stop by at a corner and have a picnic. It is not advisable to stay on the route until the evening as you may be vulnerable to malaria-bearing mosquitoes or to wild animals.
