People say, being in Ecuador is like being in two places at the same time. Standing on the gate built at the exact location of the equator is being on both halves of the earth. Thus, many tourists come to the country. However, not all trips end up well. To prevent this, here are some precautions.
Lost luggage and small belongings
Petty crimes are rampant in Ecuador. Many tourists are robbed of their belongings. Some are even robbed of their entire luggage. Thus, travelers are advised to keep the most important belongings in hand-carried bags or belt bags. This way, even when the entire luggage disappears, all necessities are still at hand.
Money and banks with long lines
In Colombia, old people and unemployed mothers receive pension from the government. These people line up in front of state banks and make the queues look like it will take more than a day to finish. However, tourists must be informed that when withdrawing from these banks, tellers may overlook the lines and entertain withdrawals. Although the lines look threatening, the process is actually quick.
Insects
Although the country scarcely has mosquitoes there are other breeds of insects which look innocently cute. Unfortunately, beyond the cute appearance, some of them can actually trigger skin irritation and allergies. For protection, tourists are advised to carry around and apply insect repellant creams or lotions.
