Dominica is a safe country, apart from a few simple things.
Diseases
The common illness in a tropical island is dengue fever. This is a viral disease transferred from one person to another by a mosquito, which are a lot in a tropical island. Thus, in order to have a disease-free vacation, travelers are advised to carry insect repellant lotions, creams, or bracelets. This is to keep mosquitoes as well as other insects away from them.
Toilets
The capital city of Dominica is rather old. There are public toilets but not all are clean enough to be considered useful. Plus, most of them are out of toilet paper. For a hassle-free journey, tourists are advised to bring toilet paper with them as they go around town. It is better to be prepared than get stuck into a clinch without proper arms.
Hurricanes
The most important things that tourist should be warned about in coming to Dominica is the hurricane. It does not occur every month but if it does occur t can really turn a nice vacation around. Therefore, to keep the trip as fun as possible, it is best to come to the country during the non-hurricane season. If there is no other time available, the best thing to do is have the locals teach on how to survive a hurricane in the island of rainbows.
