The country's culture is mainly a mixture of many other cultures. It has African, British, French, Arawak and some African in it. The national values center on families, and traditional morality.
Island language
The island's main language is African, although there are individuals who can speak French English, and the languages of other nationals who inhabited the island.
Island religion
Despite of the many cultures, the island's 80 percent Roman Catholic. Most of the country's celebrations are based on the religion's calendar. The birthdays of saints are common feasts in the different cities of the island. Ash Wednesday is an important festivity, as well as the Catholic Festival.
Island music
Traditional Dominican sound is mostly Creole with lots of percussion sounds. These are also danceable tunes which are played during country celebrations and festivities.
