Unlike that of Brazil and Bolivia, the cooking of Chileans is only slightly influenced by the European nations that came into the country. The natives were able to preserve their own traditional cuisine while adopting some of the good sides of Spanish and Italian dishes. Some of the popular proofs of this creativity are
Cazuela
Cazuela is a combination of meat and vegetable cooked with meat stock. It is sometimes done with rice or with small-sized noodles. Typical meat ingredients are chicken and beef, and pork and turkey, while vegetables that are included are pumpkin and potato.
Risotto
More familiar as an Italian dish, Chileans have their own version which is more spicy and filled with different ingredients.
Ensalada Chilena Nortina
From the name itself, this dish is the country's version of entrée, salad. Of course, it is made with different fresh leaves and growing within the country, with slight sprinkles of meat and spices.
Cola de mono
This is not food. Cola de mono is one of the traditional drinks of Chile. It is usually served around Christmas time and mostly by adults. Typical elements of this drink include aguardiente, rum, boiled milk, coffee, and anis.
