Antique items not allowed to be brought out

Antique buffs visiting Bhutan will be disappointed because the Bureau of Custom doesn’t allow antique items to brought out of the country. Instead, they may have to do with hand-woven bamboo items, masks, wood carvings, Buddhist paintings (thangkas) sold in Thimpu’s weekend market.
