More about Algeria costs
Algeria's official currency is the Algerian Dinar (DZD) but the rural areas could charge in centimes instead. The exchange rate between centimes to DZD is 100:1. The centimes prices exclude the thousands value, so something said to cost 130 is actually 130,000 centimes or 1,300.00 DZD (18.46 USD). Travelers cheques are sometimes accepted in the capital, Algiers. Credit cards are only accepted in international chain hotels. Some tourist-based establishments, such as hotels and airlines, accept US dollars.
Since Algeria isn't a popular tourist destination, there aren't many accommodation choices. The larger cities have more choices, but even the third largest city has very few eateries and hotels. The star rating doesn't necessarily describe the facilities, with three-star hotels offering better rooms at cheaper prices. The cheapest hotels charge between 750.00 DZD (10.65 USD) and 1,500.00 DZD (21.30 USD). Midrange accommodations cost about 2,000.00 DZD (28.40 USD) to 4,000.00 DZD (56.80 USD), while the more comfortable places charge about 5,000.00 DZD (71.00 USD) to 8,000.00 DZD (113.60 USD).
