Africa's history began with the emergence of the Egyptian civilization, supported by the great Nile River. It was followed by the beginning of other societies around the same river. These constructed societies interacted with neighboring nations like the Phoenicians, the pioneers of the Carthage, the Romans, the bearers of the Christian religion, and the Muslims which contributed Islam to the country. This start of Islam in the country birthed an increase to the already existing Arab slave trade, which culminated around the 19th century. It foretold of the beginning of Atlantic slave trade where African people and culture were transported to the New World or what is called now as the Americas. It also marked the colonization of Africa by European nations.
In 1951, Africa was finally declared as independent from all its colonizers. This marked the first page of Modern African history, which has in record all new events even the ones to happen in the coming years.
