The Non La, or the conical hat is a trademark of the agricultural country of Vietnam. In the celebrated Miss Saigon play, the lead character, Kim, wore this kind of hat and the traditional long tunic or the Ao Dai. To this day, many Vietnamese girls still wear this kind of fashion, pointing that the country has never lost its culture despite the several occupations it has experienced.
Although some are slightly modified for the modern times, majority of the country's traditions and customs are still being practiced in the country. The value of family remained in the hearts of the citizens even as some of them were sent to far-flung countries across the globe during the war. The grand celebration of Tet or the Vietnamese New Year is never forgotten. It has even become one of the many attractions that are musts for travelers to see. Also, the belief in the different myths and legends, like the story of the rice cake served during Tet are continually passed from one generation to another, successfully preserving the traditions and making the country even more fascinating.
