The culture of Turkey is like a salad of European, The ottoman, and the Middle Eastern cultures. This is due to the country's conquests to expand its territory. The various cultures it has met in its invasions have influenced its own core culture of respect for women, giving importance to family, and hospitality. However, it failed to touch an aspect of culture, which is religion.
Turkish citizens are mostly members of the Islamic religion. Though not as much as with Saudi, Turkey has its share of being devout Muslims. The traditional female dress is similar to Saudi but not as covered. It is also very colorful, sort of Indian. On the other hand, male traditional clothes include a taqiyah or the cap usually worn by Muslim men.
Aside from this the nation's most celebrated festivals are based on the Muslim calendar. Thus, the holidays common to all are the Ramadan (time of fasting), the eid festivals (beginning and end of Ramadan season), seker bayram (festival following Ramadan), and kurban bayram (sacrifice day).
