Having a tropical climate, Thailand tourists are candidates for diseases like malaria and dengue fever, especially at the rural borders. Do remember to bring along some mosquito repellent, or mosquito coils to stay on the safe side. For minor ailments such as colds, you can buy from the numerous pharmacies even without prescriptions, albeit illegal. Beware the local police are known to bust tourists for such offences, so you're better off bringing some medications from home.
