Visa is a mandatory requirement in entering North Korea. The visas may be obtained in the home country of the person wanting to visit or in China. The former is only possible if there is an existing North Korean embassy in the country, otherwise, a trip to China will be necessary.
The general requirements when applying for visa in the country of residence are some personal information and a passport. If applying for visa in Beijing, the requirements are a passport-type photo, a copy of the first page of a valid passport, and a completely filled-out visa application form. Upon submission of these documents, the visa will processed and the trip may be pursued a few days later.
