North Korea strictly implements rules as regards tourism. The moment a tourist does a wrong move, not only is he in danger but also the guide accompanying him. Thus, when traveling to North Korea, it is best to know some of the important things.
First, guides are as mandatory as clothes and shoes. Tourists are not allowed to go anywhere outside the hotel without the tour-guides. Second, cameras are even more dangerous than guns for travelers. Anyone carrying a camera around will be under extreme scrutiny. Many probable good subjects can't be shot. It is illegal and it is subject to review by authorities. A third important thing is that Northern Koreans have great respect to their leader. Bowing by their monuments or places they have been to is mandatory.
Knowing these things and following them can assure of an enjoyable trip in a rather strict and straight country like North Korea.
