Hong Kong Good to know |
Although a small country, Hong Kong also has tough security when it comes to entering the country. For any person wishing to visit the island, the general requirement is a passport with a validity of at least one month to six months. For nationals from USA, Italy, Japan and other countries 90 days is the maximum length of stay without Visa. South African, Kuwait, and Peru nationals can hang about in the country only for 30 days, while citizens of Madagascar, Macedonia and other nations are allowed only a maximum of 14 days. After the intended or government-permitted length of stay has lapsed, Visa will be required.
Visa application is transacted with the Chinese embassy or consulate. The significant documents to be presented are a signed passport with a validity of six months and a blank visa page, a completely filled-out and signed visa application and entry permit application form, a round trip ticket, and two recent passport-type pictures. After filing the said documents, processing follows. Release of the visa is highly dependent on the response from the Hong Kong Immigration Department.
