Besides Kenya and Djibouti, no other nation has a visa exemption agreement with Ethiopia. Citizens or passport holders of these nations will be required to have an Ethiopian visa before entering the country. The application may be done in the nearest Ethiopian Consulate or Embassy in the visitor's home country or upon arrival in the country.
The necessary documents in applying for visa to Ethiopia include a passport with a validity of at least six months, one recent passport-type photo, a fully-filled out visa application form, consular fees, return and onward airline ticket, and an invitation letter from a local tour agency. Upon submission of these papers, applicants would need to wait for at least eight days for the issuance. From the date of issuance, the document will be valid for two years.
