Cuba is great place to visit because of the warm people and beautiful tourists attractions. Also, the country is relatively safe, save for a few things.
The road
Driving in Cuba is very dangerous. The drivers are reckless and even when a tourist is driving slowly, accidents still may happen. Outside of Havana, there are even no road signs and non-native may easily get lost. Driving is actually one of the biggest causes of detention and imprisonment according to the country's statistics. Thus, for tourists who will rent a vehicle when visiting the country, they must drive slowly and carefully.
Another thing about the roads in Cuba is that public transport seems to congregate only in Havana. Past this city, hitch-hiking is a common activity. The roads are long and there are no vehicles. For tourists, the best thing would be to rent a vehicle, book a tour bus or stay within Havana.
The cash
The monetary unit in the country is peso but dollars are also accepted from tourists. What don't work in the country are credit cards. It is best to be equipped with enough cash to go around with when traveling to Cuba because establishments do not accept credit cards, especially the ones funded by U.S banks. It is either travelers pack a lot of dollars or carry around pesos.
The dark nooks and crannies
Like most tourist areas there are cases of petty crimes in this country. Tourists must be aware that even if the country is safe even in night time, walking into dimly lit and unfamiliar places may still cause danger. There are still thieves and muggers in the country so travelers better beware.
