Rebellion
Colombia is one of the countries in the south with an ongoing political unrest. Guerillas in camouflage uniform may be spotted all over the cities. Although most are harmless, these are signs that some areas may not be safe for tourists. Thus, prospective Colombia visitors are advised to keep up to date information safe and prohibited destinations.
Curfew
Curfew hours in Colombia are not officially imposed. However, for the security of visitors, it is recommended not to stay on the streets until late at night. The country is notorious for having a high crime rate and tourists may easily fall victim to awaiting culprits.
Highway robbery
Bus rides from the capital city to other cities of Colombia are common, especially to travelers who consider the experience part of the thrill of being in the country. However, there are times when the buses are ambushed by highway bandits. Just like the group of Jesse James, these bandits rob and scare passengers of the bus. Travelers are not advised to make this kind of trip.
