Historically, Botswana's culture is influenced by the territory. The men were herders of animals from which food products like meat and milk were derived. On the other hand, the women were left to gather and pick wild fruits and vegetables.
Today, Botswana culture is best described as continuously innovating. From traditional Tswana music, it has now evolved to popular jazz sounds. Some have even detoured into hip hop. The same may be said as regards the country's literature and visual arts. The myths and legends passed from one generation to another is now slightly abandoned due to emergence of modern fiction. Modernization carried an inevitable change to many aspects of Botswana culture.
