Language
The Paraguayans are Spanish and Guarani speakers. English is not commonly used. Thus, for travelers who do not understand even simple Spanish, touring the country may become difficult. Tour guides are best to be hired to avoid this problem.
Laid-back lifestyle
Probably due to the hot climate the country has, the people of Paraguay are mostly laid-back. They take their time on almost all activities. Thus, for tourists who are used to a fast lifestyle it is better not to expect too much from Paraguayans. They enjoy their activities in the country and time is not always of the essence. Buses do not come on time. Even food may be not served quickly in restaurants.
Potholes
Potholes or holes on roads are a common sight in Paraguay. The tropical rain the country receives regularly starts the holes. Buses and truck which abound in the country make it worse. The roads then become unsmooth, making bus rides shaky and a total pain on the back. Even on the capital city, the potholes make the streets look like a military obstacle course.
