With the early settlers being Hindus and Chinese people, the culture of Nepal is basically a mix of these nations' culture. The two main religions are Hinduism and Buddhism. Fervently practiced customs and traditions are largely based on these religions' virtues. Dances are influenced by the Hindu dance for Lord Shiva. Literature has a Chinese touch. More importantly, festivals annually celebrated like the Dashain (a day of victory over demons) and Buddha Jayanti (the celebration of Buddha's birth) are from the religion's important dates.
