The cuisine of Middle is a heart mix of different flavors derived from the Arab kitchen, Ottoman cooking, Levantine cuisine, and cooking of other cultures found in the region. Despite the seeming difference in the names or categories, most dishes in the Middle East are similar, only varying in the degree of flavor and usually spiciness. The Arab cooking is spicy and with a bit of a twist being mostly made out of fish and vegetables due to the religion, which forbids eating of pork and beef. Ottoman cooking is also spicy but with more freedom. There is an abundance of spice meat ingredients. Levantine is similar in the sense that rice is the staple food and the always present in everyday meals. Some of the national foods are just modified versions of rice dishes.
Some of the popular Middle eastern dishes include Hummis (mashed chickpea dip made with tahini, olive oil, garlic and lemon juice), Pita (middle eastern bread), may be eaten warm, toasted, stuffed, or dipped, Ghannoush (vegetarian Middle Eastern dish), Turkish coffee, which is made out of boiled fava beans and spiced and Baklawa, which is a delicious Middle Eastern dessert.
