Travelers wanting to see the sights of Malaysia beware of the fact that there are lots of mosquitoes lurking around. The country has a tropical climate and some forests are kept intact. Thus, mosquitoes can breed freely and feed on the people. The best defense against these blood-sucking insects is to cover up or dab some mosquito repellant lotions on your skin.
A second matter that tourists should be warned about is the unclean toilets in the tourist sites. The Malaysian government is doing its best to make the public restrooms hygienic, but still most of the toilets are dirty. So, female travelers should be cautious. The wisest thing is to bring around a roll of toilet paper or try to hold it until the next five-star hotel come in sight.
Another advice for the lady visitors, take note of the fact that Malaysia is a Muslim country. Hence, anything short of a pair of jeans can definitely pull the guys' attention. Try to dress modestly as not all of the male Malaysians are decent enough not to look.
