Unknown to many, Kuwait has a number of interesting Greek and Bronze Age archaeological sites. If you want to see such sites, go to Failaka Island just outside Kuwait City. There are daily ferry services from Kuwait City to Failaka's many old dhows (ancient wooden boats).
Failaka has been called "Treasure Island" for having an ancient Greek temple and other relics of past civilizations that could be seen in a local museum. The island was originally called "Ikarus" by the Greeks who established an outpost in the island during the time of Alexander the Great.
In addition to old towns, there are new chalets, restaurants, and resorts on the island, making it an ideal beach destination. Among the activities here are riding Arabian horses and camels and barbecuing under the moonlight. For more information, visit http://www.failakaheritagevillage.com/
