China is a country packed with people; all strangers especially to foreign travelers so in visiting the country, learn to trust only the tourist guides and other authorities. It is best to know that customer fraud is very rampant in China. When traveling into the key cities and buying, vacationers should try to make sure to give the amount of money equivalent to the price of the item. This is to prevent being given fake money for change or not being given any change at all. They are also advised to be wary of thieves and pickpockets scattered in the populous areas like Wangfujing Street in Beijing. A bag securely placed where the owner can see it is the best thing to carry in planning a walk in these areas.
For female visitors who want to experience the legendary Great Wall, it is definitely a long and winding road, so high-heeled shoes are not suggested. Also, while trekking, it is best to bring a roll or two of toilet paper as most public restrooms have none. Finally, be forewarned that majority of the toilets are not built in western style requiring all women to squat when nature calls.
