The Glossary
Facing North Korea across the Yalu River stands the Hushan Great Wall. It marks the start of the Great Wall's extension during the Ming Dynasty. This section of the wall is an important one since it protected the country's eastern border from invasion.
The excavation site of the Hushan Great Wall was about six hundred meters deep. By 1989, it was confirmed as a section of the great wall and restoration efforts were immediately implemented by 1992. In 2000, restoration was completed on the thousand meter long principal part of the wall. Today, the Hushan Great Wall stands as one of the hottest tourist attractions of Dandong, China. On top of the wall, travelers are treated to a panoramic view of the town and even parts of North Korea just across the river.
