Prasat Neang Khmao

/ Asia / Cambodia / Takeo / Historical Spots / Prasat Neang Khmao

Located roughly 25 KM to the north of the provincial town of Takeo is the Prasat Neang Khmao. This ancient structure is believed to have been built in the 10th century under the reign of King Jayavarman IV which spanned from 921-940. The temple was used by locals for worshiping Brahman.

The architecture of the Prasat Neang Khmao leans toward Koh Ker style. The temple complex originally featured three towers, however only two remain today and they badly need renovation as well. Some of the statues that the temple had can be seen in the Phnom Penh National Museum.
