Most Aruban dishes are classified as ones which originated elsewhere. This is probably due to the international influences of the Spanish people, and the Dutch. There are dishes with ingredients common to the Spaniards, quite on the salty side. There are also ones which may be identified as having a Dutch palate. Whatever the roots may be Aruban dishes remain as it is, good and tempting for locals and most of all, to foreign travelers. Here are some of the best dishes that may be sampled in the island.
Giambo, a thick and hearty soup made with pureed Okra is one of the typical dishes. One of its group-mates is funchi. It is a corn-meal soup vigorously stirred. A third is stoba di cabrito or stewed goat. Tourists may also consume the chilled tomato consomme, or the sancochi di galinja, which is made of chicken, sopi mondongo, which is cooked with cow's stomach.
