The culture of Aruba has many backgrounds due to the number of nations that settled in. initially there are the Arawaks who were the first settlers. They contributed the very first culture of the country. To this basic way of life, the Spanish ways were added. Spanish habits as well as religion were introduced and adopted by the settlers. Following this is the dutch culture contributed by the people from the Netherlands who settled in the country after the Spanish. The combination of these three gave Aruba its own cultural identity. This is characterized by celebrations, a number of them. Color and music play a major role in the people's lives and most especially to the annual Carnival and the Dia de San Juan or St John's day, the two most important festivals in the country. They are widely celebrated and even used as reasons to travel and visit Aruba.
