The culture of Antigua and Barbuda is traditional creole culture mixed with Amerindian, West African, and British culture. Hints of these parent cultures may be found in Antigua's current traditions, beliefs and many other elements of culture. If further looked in to, bits of other Caribbean nations' culture may also be traced.
Family and religion play a major role in the culture of Antiguans. The main religion is Christianity with the denomination of seventh day Adventists being the biggest one. Everyone's schedule for an entire week is based on the services of these churches. Also, some annual celebrations were derived on the annual feasts of important characters in the religion. For instance, the carnival, the biggest celebration in the island, is said to be celebrated as a way of welcoming the Lenten season.
