Kluay Khai - "a unique variety of banana indigenous to the country; it is known for being very delicious."
Perhaps the main tourist attraction feature of Wat Phothisomphon is a museum of famous and revered monks who attained that status through knowledge and meditation. It is where visitors will learn about the different monks of Thailand and their contributions to Buddhism.
Wat Phothisomphon was built during the time of King Rama V. The villagers were persuaded by a high ranking official at that time to build the temple and it was referred to as Wat Mai. The temple was renamed later to Wat Phothisomphon by Phra Chao Worawongthoe Krommaluang Chinnawonsiriwat in order to commemorate the person responsible for building the temple.
