Seychelles is a country composed of 115 islands. This means, most destinations in the country are beaches and the things tourists must remember when coming to the islands are also related to the beaches.
On shore, travelers who love lying on beach towels under trees are warned about coconut trees in this country. No one knows how long can a fruit go against gravity. Coconuts might fall anytime and staying under the tree will be dangerous, at times, even fatal. If possible, do not stay under coconut trees. Instead of relying on trees for shade, carry around an umbrella.
In the water, the danger lies on the animals that creep under your feet as you wade. There are sea urchins on the shallow areas and stepping on one may ruin a one-week vacation. The sting hurts like crazy and wound does not heal as fast as other wounds. Travelers are advised to look below before taking a step in the water.
Another problem in the water is the shells. Aside from the fact that they hard and it can hurt when they are stepped on, some shells actually contain invertebrates that sting so bad. There are even some that has very strong poison, it can cause instant death. Thus, travelers should beware when picking up shells on shores. Better have a fair idea of those that are poisonous and those which are not.
