When looking for exotic dishes, Seychelles is the best country to visit. Because of the amalgamation of races in this country, the cuisine is a complex mix of Creole, French, Indian, and British tastes. Their curries are very thick and really spicy, commonly served over rice as the main course. Coconut milk is a staple ingredient in their cooking, making it thick and creamy. Breadfruit is another integral part of Seychelles cuisine. This is a potato-like fruit that adds texture to dishes. A lot of tropical fruits like apples, pineapples, and papayas are also included most of the time in a Seychelles meal.
Aside from fruits and spices, the country is also gifted with marine creatures. Seafood and shellfish also abound in their food. The mainstays are crabs, prawns, and various kinds of fish. Some of the popular dishes are carotte bananes (light refreshment for breakfast), octopus salad, and Cuisine bourgeoise Seychelloise, which is a gratin of palmheart, and jackfish terrine main dish.
